The Dark Side

Post  ripa330 on Sat Nov 12, 2011 3:55 pm

Keith, You are a tad off track, I can read ALL of the threads on ALL of the SITREP and linked sites, but am only able to POST replies if I use the new B-B link and its forum
I thought I had best clarify that for when you get further into the do-do as you no doubt will.
I did manage to have a post sneak through a couple of days ago on the M60 issue, albeit a tad inflammatory appearing, but really posted with tongue in cheek.
It lasted on the site just under 10 mins and ker-ching!!! gone; so, for the purpose of the exercise what I expected to occur came to pass.
Now all of this crap has eventuated SINCE I returned from visiting you in Wyalcatchem (Wylie of bushranging fame). The obvious conclusion, to self is that not only did the entire family, including the Baskervilliens, pick up some arachnid borne complaint, but we are now in possession of a cyberspace DARK FORCE.
Conclusion; is it now time to switch to a lootenantcy position with the Emperor and his heir apparent Darth Vader, AKA Luke Skywalker's daddy with PTSD??
May the VICE be with you in the Mazda Baiter.
Regards,

Locked Out-The OTHER Forum

Post  silver fox on Sat Nov 12, 2011 10:49 am

G'Day Rip Riley & Noela.
All is well over here on the other side of the Island. So you are still locked out and on Read Only basis. Well I can't even get to that level. My screen informs me that I am BANNED and privileges withdrawn when I attempt to read the OTHER Forum. I can "read only" the 3rd/4th Cav Regt Forum, but any of the other links on GavAn's forum [e.g. 2 Cav and even the Sports Pages] are banned to me.
I don't want to post anything on it -- I just want to read what transpires within the members so as I have a little insight into the activity of the blokes.
I contacted my IP provider and they looked into it and informed me that the Admin, [which I read as GaVan & Co] had BLOCKED my address. I can overcome this by starting another plan and obtaining a different address; but the Administrator would probably close me down again so there is not any real way to settle this blocking action other than have the OTHER group remove the ban!.
This has been going on for several years now and the ban was lifted when "Adrian" was active about 4 months ago---but only for about 3 weeks, and then the blocking was again enforced.
If you want to go to the cost of establishing another IP Address you might be able to communicate otherwise you just have to accept that the Censorship Demon is active and remain ignorant of what is posted on the OTHER Forum.
About 2 years ago GaVan told me that the problem was with the people in America who provide HIS FORUM; however my IP Provider told me that this is not the case --the ban is from within and the Moderators and Administrator has the control to lock-out any address.
How long have you been "on the dark side" mate. It would be reasonable to think that with your knowledge of computers, and after several months of being unable to contribute or make a comment on that forum, that you and GaVan should have worked out why you can't get contact by now and corrected the situation. Unlike me where a LIFETIME BAN appears to apply due to some of the postings I made several years ago that upset a few of the "purple circle".
Good luck with your endeavours mate but if all else fails YOU NOW HAVE THE BEST FORUM AVAILABLE to stay in touch with CORPS Activity thanks to TreVor re-establishing his open and unrestricted forum.
UPDATE: Les Wieland is going along OK after being diagnosed with inoperable throat cancer-He is not as active as he usually was but has resigned himself to the fact that the condition will not improve and will get worse over the next few months. Bob McNae is crusing along and in good spirit. I had some time with him when I was passing through Brisbane in September as he is living in the same complex as my Mother and it was great to sit with him and talk about old times in 2/14QMI when the Depot was located in Moorooka. Thats going back to around 1956/57 when you were posted there; some 50 odd years ago. We had good times then mate---I am wandering again so "Over to You".
Keith "Silver Fox" Morris.

You think you have problems

Post  ripa330 on Fri Nov 11, 2011 8:51 pm

I have just spent quite some time TRYING to put a post up on the 2nd Cav Regt website using the link supplied by the SITREP website only to have it, again, disappear into cyberspace.
NONE of the forums linked from that site, except THIS ONE, will allow me to send a post.
So I am "READ ONLY" on the SITREP website forums and stuffed if I know why it is happening to me.
Is there any one out there under the same dark cloud as Foxy and self.

In Favour

Post  ripa330 on Thu Nov 10, 2011 8:54 pm

The septics have stated that they "believe" their war is unwinnable over there and their investment "appears" bottomless.
Now for a nation that is in a financial bind, so to speak, the first statement could be taken to giving support to the second, or vicky verky; however, at the first sign of their, the USofA, giving in to public opinion to cut their losses, of which they have had not all that previous experience, I will be of the mindset that we get the hell out fast and find another means of winning the real war which is about stamping out terrorism.
I do wonder if 9/11 had not occured just what path the CIA, and consequently Australia, would have travelled down to achieve their objects; covertly of course.
I did read somewhere else that the septics are moving to de-conclomeratise their free enterprise monoliths; dontcha just love their bastardisation of the mother tongue.

De we stay or do we go home?

Post  hans on Thu Nov 10, 2011 7:28 pm

Well surfing the net I have been perusing various newspaper websites. A politition has stated on one news website that the war in afghanistan is unwinnable. The newspoll shows a healthy majority of votes in favour of pulling our troops out, Your thoughts gentlemen?.
